- Drew Maddux
The 1992 Classic runner-up, and the smallest school in the field with two of the country's best players in it. Senior guard Drew Maddux had already committed to Vanderbilt after averaging 22 points a game as an all-state selection, and 6-7 Ron Mercer — the 1992 Classic slam dunk winner — was considered by many the top junior in the country. Goodpasture were a unanimous preseason number one in Tennessee Class A.
