Henry Marsh's Bulldogs, 8-AAA North Georgia champions the season before, had four starters in double figures and had won four straight by an average of more than 15 points after an opening loss. 6-3 guard Anthony Maxwell led at 20 points and his brother Mike, a 6-5 forward, averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds, with Telferro Goss and Stan Rucker also scoring in double figures. Healthy and playing well, they were picked to finish high in their league again. 4-1 coming in.
