A surprise to most of the Big 10, though not to Mike Williams, who had picked his Rebels as a darkhorse. The conference's biggest and an experienced lineup, they ran a balanced attack led by 6-6 junior wing Clay Potter at 17.4 points, with John Montgomery (6-5 post, 10.6), Daniel Williams (6-0 wing, 9.7), point guard Chris Jessie (5-9, 9.2) and Ryan Rodgers (6-5 wing, 6.1). 7-2 coming in.
